It’s a wrap on the 2016 Eurovision song contest. It was the 61st edition and took place in Stockholm, Sweden. The semi-finals took place on May 10 and 12 with the final on May 14. The final top five by points were:

This was the second time in history that the Ukraine won the contest, the first being in 2004 for “Wild Dances” by Ruslana. In 2016, Australia won the jury vote while Russia won the televote. The Ukraine came second in both and in so doing won the contest. “1944” is a bilingual song with lyrics in both English and Crimean Tatar. Forty-two countries participated in this year’s competition.
