Vangelis Set For New Album Rosetta

The godfather of classical electronica, or what some may call ambient music, is releasing a new studio album on September 23, 2016. Yes, we’re talkin’ Greece’s Vangelis! The master composer and musician responsible for both ground breaking studio albums and soundtracks to such films as Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire, the latter crossing over to CHR radio, will offer his latest work, Rosetta. Vangelis began recording way back in 1970 and became known for his spacey, ethereal instrumental music much of which was performed by the Yamaha CS-80 synthesizer. His collaborations with Yes’ Jon Anderson were also successful, like “The Friends of Mr. Cairo” a chart-topper in Canada. The new album is inspired by the European Space Agency’s Rosetta Mission in which a comet was orbited by a probe before landing on its surface, a first in history.
